Privacy Policy for WiFi Speed Test & Analyzer

Privacy Policy for WiFi Speed Test & Analyzer

Effective Date: May 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how WiFi Speed Test & Analyzer ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our application. We are committed to maintaining a clean, privacy-focused experience, and we prioritize local-only data storage wherever possible.

1. Data Collection and Usage

The App is designed to test your internet speed and analyze nearby Wi-Fi networks. To function correctly, it requires specific device permissions and accesses certain network data.

A. Network and Connection Data

When you run a speed test, the App connects to external testing servers to measure your Download speed, Upload speed, Ping, and Jitter. During this process, your IP address (Internal and External) and network provider (ISP) are temporarily utilized to route the test traffic.

Storage: All resulting test data, including your IP addresses and connection logs, is saved strictly locally on your device within the App’s "History" tab. We do not transmit, back up, or store your personal connection history on any external servers.

B. Location Data (Wi-Fi Scanning)

To operate the Wi-Fi Analyzer feature, the App requests Location permissions (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION).

Why it is needed: This is a strict requirement mandated by the Android operating system. Without location permissions, apps are blocked from reading the names (SSIDs) and MAC addresses (BSSIDs) of nearby Wi-Fi networks.

How it is used: This data is used exclusively in real-time to generate the signal strength graphs and network lists on your screen.

Privacy Guarantee: We do not track your physical location, nor do we collect, store, or share this location data.

C. Android 13+ Permissions

For devices running modern Android versions, the App utilizes the NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES permission to discover nearby network access points without relying on broader location tracking.

2. Third-Party Services and Advertising

To support the ongoing development of the App, we use third-party advertising services (specifically Google Mobile Ads/AdMob). These third-party SDKs may automatically collect certain device information to serve relevant advertisements.

Data collected by advertising partners may include:

Device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID).

IP addresses (used for fraud prevention and generalized, non-precise regional targeting).

App interaction and crash logs.

These third-party providers operate under their own privacy policies. You can opt out of personalized advertising by navigating to your device's Google settings and resetting your Advertising ID or opting out of ad personalization.

3. Required Permissions Summary

Below is a transparent breakdown of the permissions requested in our application manifest and why they are strictly necessary:

INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required to connect to speed test servers and determine if you are actively connected to a network.

ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_STATE & CHANGE_NETWORK_STATE: Required to read your current Wi-Fi connection details and refresh network scans.

ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION & ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: Required by Android to extract nearby Wi-Fi network names (SSIDs) for the analyzer tool.

NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES: Required on Android 13 and above to scan for local Wi-Fi networks.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Because the App utilizes a local-only storage model for your user data, your speed test history remains on your device until you choose to delete it. You can clear individual test results directly from the App's History screen, or you can delete all data permanently by uninstalling the App or clearing its app data in your device settings.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our app features or Android operating system requirements. Any updates will be reflected within the App, and we encourage you to review this policy periodically.

6. Contact Us

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback regarding this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, please reach out to us using the "Feedback" or "Support" section located within the Settings menu of WiFi Speed Test & Analyzer.
